Choosing To Live A Healthier Life

A few years ago, I realized that I needed to get healthy for my kids. I weighed around three hundred pounds, and it was really difficult for me to get around comfortably. I was even having problems with things like sleeping and driving, which is why I shifted my focus to a healthier lifestyle. I started eating right and exercising daily, and I quickly realized that my life was improving day after day. One day, after losing about a hundred pounds, I realized that I could run faster than I had ever been able to before. This blog is all about choosing to live a healthier life and doing it with style.

Back Pain Relief

If you often suffer from back pain, then there are some things that you can do to help your back to feel better when it is hurting. This article will give you pointers on ways to alleviate back pain so you can start feeling better:

Fill a tube sock with rice

You can take a tube sock and put uncooked rice in it. Fill it at least half of the way up with rice, and sew the open end shut. Once you have completed these steps, then you can keep the sock in your freezer. When you are hurting, you can take it out and put the sock against your back for the same relief you would get from an ice pack. However, you can also use the sock full of rice for heat. To do this, you will put the sock in the microwave and heat it for about 30 seconds. See if it's the right temperature, and heat it some more until it is hot enough. You can now put it on your back for heat relief.

See a chiropractor

Talk to your doctor about getting x-rays to rule out serious injuries. Once you have x-rays, you can take them to a chiropractor, and they can treat your pain. The chiropractor will determine which methods are going to be the best for your situation and will help you to instantly feel better. They may work on properly aligning your spine and working out any knots or kinks you have.

See a physical therapist

You may also want to talk to your doctor about getting a referral to a physical therapist. The therapist can work with you on such things as pain relief and muscle strengthening to help your back now and in the future. Some of the methods they can use include teaching you stretches, teaching you exercises, using electrical stimulation, using ultrasound, and providing you with aids to use at home.

Get a massage

Another great way for you to get relief from back pain is to go have a professional massage. A massage therapist is trained to be able to feel problems in your back and work them out by manually rubbing and manipulating your back muscles in specific ways. One of the many great things about getting a massage is that while it takes away your back pain, it can also help to reduce stress and make you feel all around more relaxed and rested.
