Choosing To Live A Healthier Life

About Me

Choosing To Live A Healthier Life

A few years ago, I realized that I needed to get healthy for my kids. I weighed around three hundred pounds, and it was really difficult for me to get around comfortably. I was even having problems with things like sleeping and driving, which is why I shifted my focus to a healthier lifestyle. I started eating right and exercising daily, and I quickly realized that my life was improving day after day. One day, after losing about a hundred pounds, I realized that I could run faster than I had ever been able to before. This blog is all about choosing to live a healthier life and doing it with style.

Tips For Tighter Skin: What You Can Do

As we age, it begins to show in our skin. It's less taut, it may look a bit like crepe paper, and may also sag here and there, not to mention the wrinkles (both fine and deep). There are things you can do to help keep your skin tight. Read on for a few things you can do, some of which you can do yourself at home, some may require the help of a medical professional.

Drink Water

What you put into your body will eventually show in your skin and the rest of your body as well. Give your skin the water it needs to stay hydrated and prevent dryness. Water can clear out toxins in the body and keep your skin clear as well. It can also help skin cells regenerate. Drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water each and every day. If you aren't a fan of plain water, add fresh fruits or vegetables to give it a different flavor while also giving you the benefits of water.

Wash Your Face

Those days when you could go to bed after a long day and sleep in your makeup may have been fine in your early 20's, but as you age, all of that makeup sitting on your skin will clog pores and deepen fine lines and wrinkles. Wash your face before bed to remove all traces of makeup possible, especially around the eyes. Use a gentle facial cleanser or makeup removing cloths to remove your makeup.

Apply Face Cream

Apply a face cream nightly before bedtime and after you've washed your face. Use a cream that helps keep your skin hydrated, but also helps with skin cell regeneration such as one that contains retinols. You should begin using this type of face cream in your 30's when you start to notice fine lines, but it can be beneficial at any age. Apply a thin layer to the skin after cleaning your face.

Stop Smoking

Smoking can constrict your blood vessels and it will begin to show in your skin tone and texture. If you're a smoker, cease this bad habit immediately for not just healthier skin, but for a healthier body overall. If you're a smoker, you may look older than you actually are. Talk to your physician about getting help to stop smoking.

Change Bad Habits

Some of the habits you have may be causing your skin to wrinkle such as squinting. Squinting to see can lead to wrinkles near the eye (crow's feet). Wrinkles can also be caused by stress—furrowed brows from stress may lead to wrinkles between the eyebrows. Failing to exercise may also lead to loose or sagging skin in the face (or other parts of the body). Be sure to exercise daily for at least 20 minutes. You'll notice a difference in your skin and even your waistline.

If you are beginning to notice loose skin, wrinkles and other issues, talk to your physician about skin tightening treatments to give you taut, younger-looking skin. Try using the tips above to help you as well. For more information, reach out to health and wellness clinics like the Santé MD Wellness Center.
